রুনা লায়লা / Runa Laila
রুনা লায়লা (জন্ম: ১৭ নভেম্বর ১৯৫২) একজন খ্যাতনামা বাংলাদেশী কণ্ঠশিল্পী। তিনি বাংলাদেশে চলচ্চিত্র, পপ ও আধুনিক সংগীতের জন্য বিখ্যাত। তবে বাংলাদেশের বাইরে গজল শিল্পী হিসাবে দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার অন্যান্য দেশে তার সুনাম আছে। বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন হওয়ার আগে থেকেই তিনি চলচ্চিত্রের গায়িকা হিসাবে কাজ শুরু করেন। রুনা লায়লা তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের (বর্তমান বাংলাদেশ) সিলেটে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তার বাবা সৈয়দ মোহাম্মদ এমদাদ আলী ছিলেন সরকারি কর্মকর্তা এবং মা আনিতা সেন ওরফে আমেনা লায়লা ছিলেন সংগীত শিল্পী। তার মামা সুবীর সেন ভারতের বিখ্যাত সংগীত শিল্পী। তার যখন আড়াই বছর বয়স তার বাবা রাজশাহী থেকে বদলি হয়ে তৎকালীন পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের মুলতানে যান। সে সূত্রে তার শৈশব কাটে পাকিস্তানের লাহোরে,তার বাবার বাড়ী রাজশাহীতে।
রুনা লায়লা ছিলটি, বাংলা, উর্দু, পাঞ্জাবি, হিন্দি, সিন্ধি, গুজরাটি, বেলুচি, পশতু, ফার্সি, আরবি, মালয়, নেপালি, জাপানি, স্পেনীয়, ফরাসি, লাতিন ও ইংরেজি ভাষাসহ মোট ১৮টি ভাষায় ১০ হাজারেরও বেশি গান করেছেন। পাকিস্তানে তার গান দমাদম মাস্ত কালান্দার অত্যন্ত জনপ্রিয়।
Runa Laila was brought into the world in Sylhet to Syed Mohammed Imdad Ali, a government worker posted in Karachi and Amina Laila. She began taking dance illustrations of Kathak and Bharatanatyam type. Back then, Ahmed Rushdi was the main film artist who presented rock n roll, disco and other current types to South Asian music. Following Rushdi’s prosperity, Christian groups gaining practical experience in jazz began performing at different clubs and lodging anterooms in Karachi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Dhaka and Lahore. Laila turned into a fanatic of vocalist Ahmed Rushdi whom she thought of her as master (instructor), and attempted to imitate his singing style as well as the manner in which he used to perform on the stage. She then educated traditional music with her senior sister Dina Laila (d. 1976). While she was an understudy of Saint Lawrence Convent, she won a between school singing contest in Karachi in the then West Pakistan. She, alongside her sister, were prepared by Ustad Abdul Kader Peyarang and Ustad Habibuddin Ahmed. Her cousin, Anjumara Begum, had previously been a known artist. At the point when Laila was 12, she proceeded as a playback artist for a male youngster entertainer in the Urdu language film Jugnu. The tune was named Gudia Si Munni Meri.
Runa Laila has sung more than 10,000 songs in 16 languages including Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Sindhi, Gujarati, Bellucci, Pashto, Persian, Arabic, Malay, Nepali, Japanese, Spanish, French, Latin and English. His song Damadam Mast Kalander is very popular in Pakistan.
